Our current situation

Our current society is in a complete downward spiral with regards to religion.  A recent report states that most Americans (over half of the country) do not attend weekly church services.  We have musical performances on network television that praise the altar of Satan, along with sin and immorality filling our children’s minds through cartoons and sitcoms.  How did we get here?  How much worse can it get?  And how can we get back on track?

Let’s look at each one of these questions individually.

How did we get here?  Our great nation was founded on Christian principles.  Our Creator was mentioned by name in many of our founding father’s documents.  However, many of those values have been suppressed over the past 40 plus years.  Public prayers were taken out of schools and government meetings.  Sin became cool in the eyes of many as television shows and movies became controversial through their use of immorality and coarse language.  Preachers began to water down the Gospel so that the members saw no importance with attending church services.  According to many so-called preachers, there is no hell and all dogs go to heaven.

How much worse can it get?  If we are not careful, we will repeat Old Testament history as we are just one generation away from a complete Godless country.  “When all that generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the LORD nor the work which He had done for Israel, Judges 2:10 (NKJV).  If we continue down this path, rest assured it will get worse!

How do we get back on track?  We must dust off our Bibles, get back into the Word of God, and pray like we’ve never prayed before.  We have to have sermons that are filled with book, chapter, and verse preaching and not cute little motivational talks or political speeches.  We have to get back to being Biblically Correct and not Politically Correct.  We have to focus on God, His Son and how we can please Him and not how we can please ourselves.  We have to do what the Apostle Paul did in the first century and preach “righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come” Acts 24:25.

At the Rabun County Church of Christ, that is exactly what you will hear each and every Sunday.  Book, Chapter and Verse sermons and not man’s opinions.  Please join us and let us begin to get out of our current situation and one at a time, we can turn this nation back to a nation under God, instead of one that has turned from God.
