1. PROMISE OF THE SPIRIT

2. PURPOSE OF THE SPIRIT
   1. Set us free from sin (Romans 8:2-3; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Ephesians 3:16-17; Romans 10:17; 2 Corinthians 7:1)
   2. Leads us (Romans 8:14; 1 Peter 1:23; Galatians 5:16-18; 1:25; 1 Corinthians 2:13)
   3. Bears witness that we are children of God (Romans 8:16; 1 John 5:10-13)
   4. Seals us in Christ (Ephesians 1:13; 1 John 3:24; Galatians 3:26-29; 4:6; Colossians 1:23)
   5. Bears fruit in our lives (Galatians 5:22-25; Romans 8:23; Colossians 3:12-13)
   6. Provides our basis from unity (Ephesians 4:3-5; John 7:21; 17:17)
   7. Arms us for the spiritual battle (Ephesians 6:11, 17; Psalm 119:11)
   8. Sanctifies us (2 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 Peter 1:2; Romans 12:1-2)
   9. Helps in our prayers (Romans 8:26-27; Ephesians 8:18; 1 John 5:14; Ephesians 5:17-18)
